I began to create Series of “Indoors” since 2006. “Indoors” expresses the funny daily life by using the living space as media which urbane people are familiar with. Furniture of the whole room is outstretched with the spreading walls as if all of it could be extended without any limit. People indoors have to do their boring things.
I saw such kind of facetiousness in Sam Tailor Wood’s photography. And then, I turned myself and the truthfulness in life that I experienced into the painting.
Space in Series of “Indoors” is sort of showing off. Not to show off position and wealth but to show off an attitude. Charles-Pierre Baudelaire described his rich feelings and personal experience in essay “Double-bed Room”. What he wrote was a little bit similar with the “Indoors”. “A room with fantasy, a room with fun, frozen atmosphere was slightly permeated by pink, here ghosts lazily receiving baptism, emitting odor of desire, glimmering, dreaming of happiness while waning
